A tale of two school newsletters.. (oops I added a third after choosing the title of this and now can't think of a witty title. Crumbs.)

Your task for today is a study of these three school newsletters in terms of effectiveness.

Whereas a specialist design expert will handcraft the front cover of every glossy magazine cover you will see, with every pixel of text, image and other graphic on the screen being chosen for deliberate effect. However, school newsletters do not always have the same thought put into them - can they be improved?

Consider: semiotics, content, layout, language

Mmmm Comic Sans.... what is the effect of this?

In the Deyes newsletter cover below - pick apart the different elements and describe why they have been chosen? Why the image of the front of the school? etc. Is that a bit of Comic Sans there? Effect of this?
